Maoists rope in IT experts




Maoists are recruiting information technology experts to paralyse the government communication and IT network as part of their ‘urban warfare’. Sources in the Intelligence department said that the CPI Maoist urban warfare document seized recently stated that the left wing extremists are on the lookout for expert techies.

Maoists are in the process of setting up units which will take up the task of damaging the networks of the military, police and other anti-Naxal forces. “In the document they said that they have to use computers and internet to the maximum to further the military objectives of the revolution,” said a senior official. “Maoists are keen on urban mass movement.”

In the State, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam are identified as potential areas. Other possible targets are Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad - Pune belt, Coimbatore-Erode belt and industrial cities in central India. Small secret action teams of trained Maoists are to be stationed permanently in cities and towns to hit at important targets.
