Kolkotta Knight Riders finally win a match

Kolkata Knight Riders finally managed to clinch a thriller to register a seven wicket win over the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2 in South Africa.

The win might have come a bit too late in the tournament, but it did manage to salvage some pride for Shah Rukh’s men. Brad Hodge’s third IPL fifty came in time to carve a thriller of a match, despite the fact that it came a bit too late for his team in the season.

Brendon McCullum was the wrecker-in-charge for the day as he went out all guns blazing and hit form with a capital F, smashing the ball all over the park. However, he could not be there for the finishing blow as he was clean bowled at a score of 81 off a mere 48 balls.

The wicket was followed-up with some heartbreak for David Hussey as he fell victim to a run-out at 3 runs.

Before the special knock in the second part of the game, it was Chennai Super Kings all the way in the first half as they managed to set a 189-runs target for the beleaguered Kolkata Knight Riders outfit.

The men in yellow were helped with an explosive fifty from the blade of Suresh Raina (52 off 27 balls) and the quick fire cameos of Dhoni and Albie Morkel ensured that the massive total was achieved with ease.

Dhoni’s men started off their campaign on a positive note as they amassed runs at a swift rate, losing two wickets by the means of run-outs. The strategy break saw the scorecard reading 82 runs for the loss of the wickets of Parthiv Patel and George Bailey.

The major news from the middle in the morning was that ‘Big Matt’, Matthew Hayden would be sitting out of the match due to a niggle and would be replaced by the young George Bailey.
