Students in Lucknow are learning Sanskrit the Bollywood way… but this method has raised eyebrows with teachers and educationists across the country.
Film stars are being used as illustrations in text books to help students learn alphabets. For the children, it’s a welcome break from the mundane teaching methods they are used to, and it is perhaps familiarity with the stars that teachers hope to use to their advantage.
The credit for this unique method of learning goes to two DPS teachers, however educationists are against mixing learning with Bollywood.
Prof. Rooprekha Verma, Former Vice Chancellor, Lucknow University says, "We have to think whether we want students to remember national heroes or film stars."
In UP, Bollywood and learning go hand in hand, first Mulayam Singh dedicated a school to Amitabh Bacchan, and last year, Amar Singh opened another school in Aishwarya’s name in Barabanki.
